NBSC 2011 Gives Back
As business becomes more globalized, nothing is more important than understanding
the needs of other from around the world. This year, we want to break the record and
have all schools take part in giving back! The wonderful organization we are
supporting is Free the Children, a Canadian organization that works to free children
around the globe from a life of poverty, and empower them through the gift of
education. The top three schools that raise the most funds for Free the Children will
receive amazing prizes!
The Goal
To raise at least $8,500 in order to have enough funds to build a school in a 3rd
world country. That’s just less than $300 from each attending school. If we succeed
or surpass this goal, all delegates will help NBSC 2011 pick the location for the new
school with the help of Free the Children.
Prizes
Grand Prize – A complimentary (excluding travel expenses) outreach presentation
from one of the Me to We speakers at the winning school, and a special prize for
each delegate.

Successful Fundraiser Ideas
How you raise the money is up to you! Have fun and be creative! All fundraising must be done within school rules and any provincial or federal laws. Below are some great and easy fundraising ideas
- Host a Buck-A-Suck at your local nightclub(s). Buck-A-Suck events are by far the easiest and most fun to plan and execute. Contact your local nightclub(s) and arrange beforehand to come with a team of 4-8 people to fundraise. Buy a few large buckets (250+ suckers/bucket) at Costco or grocery store and also have a bucket for holding the funds raised. At the club(s) sell suckers for a buck and watch the money roll in!. A Buck-A-Suck can easily raise anywhere from $400-$750 in one night!
- Decorate and distribute donations tins/boxes in your council office and local businesses
- Add a fundraising component to a school event, social, banquet, orientation, or retreat. Examples include having all money from a coat check go towards NBSC
- Collect empty beer cans at a social or outdoor event – 1 empty beer can is worth 10 cents!
- Host a Bud ‘n Spud Steak dinner, coordinate with a hotel or nightclub and sell tickets
- Host an event – book, pizza, or bake sale, even a charity gala!
- Have a Pie-Off! Pay $5 to pie a friend or professor in the face
- Organize Halloween-themed candy grams
- Reach out to the business community and have a casual day fundraiser - $5 to wear jeans and all
- proceeds go to NBSC
- Host a Dodgebeer tournament – have an entry fee, and collect the empty beer cans
- Use pledge forms to gain support from family, friends, and co-workers
- Host a charity BBQ or carwash
- Start a fundraiser to get a brave soul to shave their head or wax their legs at school if enough they
- receive enough donations!
- Arrange to sell 50/50 tickets at football or hockey game
- Sell tickets to students for an awesome draw. Popular prizes are “perfume” draws
